LifeLock’s Million Dollar Protection Package: What it is and what it covers

Identity theft can drain your finances, ruin your credit, and take years to recover from. But the right protection plan, with comprehensive reimbursement coverage, can make a world of difference. LifeLock’s Million Dollar Protection Package offers a reimbursement allowance of up to $3 million, providing financial protection when it matters most.

What is LifeLock’s Million Dollar Protection Package?

LifeLock’s Million Dollar Protection Package is the financial safety net built into every LifeLock plan. It provides up to $3 million† in reimbursement to help you recover if your identity is stolen, split across coverage for stolen funds, personal expenses, and costs for legal or expert support.

Instead of leaving you to cover fees, replace stolen money, and manage the complex process of restoring your identity alone, the Million Dollar Protection Package gives you the resources you need to get back on your feet.

Amounts vary by plan, starting with LifeLock Core which covers up to $1,050,000. LifeLock Total delivers the maximum protection — up to $1 million for each reimbursement category (stolen funds, personal expenses, legal/expert support) for a total of $3 million in coverage per adult.

Good to know: LifeLock Total offers one of the largest total reimbursement packages of any identity theft protection service, up to $3 million in total per covered adult. And we’re so confident in our restoration support, we offer a restoration guarantee that means you’ll get up to 12 months of your subscription payment back if we can’t restore your identity.

What does the Million Dollar Protection Package cover?

LifeLock’s Million Dollar Protection Package covers three main categories of expenses: reimbursement for stolen funds, personal expenses incurred as a result of identity theft, and lawyers’ and experts’ fees needed to resolve your case.

This structure ensures that whether you need legal help, reimbursement for daily living expenses, or direct replacement of stolen money, you’ll have the financial resources to move forward with confidence. With LifeLock’s Million Dollar Protection package, you’re not left paying out of pocket for a crime you didn’t commit.

And there’s no cap on the number of identity theft incidents you can report in a given year, no limits on reimbursement up to the coverage included with your plan, and no maximum hourly cost for legal experts you recruit to help you.

Here are some more details on what the Million Dollar Protection Package covers:

  • Stolen funds: Up to $1 million in reimbursement for money stolen directly from your bank, investment, or credit accounts as a result of identity theft.
  • Personal expenses: Up to $1 million in reimbursement for expenses related to your identity theft recovery, like childcare, travel, document replacement, and lost wages.
  • Legal and expert costs: Up to $1 million in reimbursement for the costs associated with appointing lawyers or other experts to solve your case and recover.

How does LifeLock’s protection package compare to the competition?

Many identity theft protection services advertise reimbursement packages as a core part of their offering, but not all plans are created equally. Here’s a quick breakdown of how some other big names in identity theft protection handle reimbursement:

  • Aura: Offers $1 million per adult on solo plans, with family plans scaling up to $5 million in total coverage (with per-person coverage capped at $1 million).
  • Identity Guard: Matches the industry standard of $1 million in identity theft insurance per covered adult, with no separate reimbursement categories.
  • Identity Force: Includes $1 million in identity theft insurance on the entry-level plan, rising to $2 million per covered adult on the more expensive premium plan.
  • IdentityIQ: Provides the industry standard $1 million coverage per adult, with an additional $25,000 in coverage for dependents available on family plans.
