Just recently I was a victim of credit card fraud on both credit cards I have. I have some tips that will help you recover based on my previous experience. One morning I was using my computer when a notice from LIFELOCK was in my email inbox. Shortly after that I received an automated phone call suggesting I use the secure LIFELOCK portal and call LifeLock, which I did. Judging from the times listed on my accounts it was only about 15 minutes after the fraud. LIFELOCK suggested I contact one of the Big 3 credit bureaus and let them know what happened so that the Big 3 would not think I lost an account due to non payment. I contacted Experian suggested by LIFELOCK who also gave me the phone number to call. I called and explained what happened. Experian said they would contact the other two credit agencies for me and let them know, which they did. In the meantime we received new credit cards. Now I will tell you how to get LiFELOCK working again based on some stupid mistakes. At the time I was trying to open a new account at my bank but it couldn't be processed because LIFELOCK would not allow it to be processed. Another Email from LIFELOCK was shortly received which asked if it was me that was trying to open an account. A checkbox provided that "read Yes it was me" so I checked it. An instant reply said "Alert Lifted or cancelled and now my bank was able to process the account. So dummy here thought it was all over and done with. and we received new cards. Not so as LIFELOCK blocked a couple purchases on one of my new cards. I didn't know why but a phone call from them said my monthly payment couldn't be processed and I might loose my membership. Then it dawned on me. I had failed to update LIFELOCK with the new card numbers. After I did that my purchases were released. So I learned something. If the same thing happens to you Be Sure you update your LIFELOCK account with any new cards and new accounts. I didn't know LIFELOCK had that much horse power to do what they did but they do. So a lesson learned. LIFELOCK paid for it' self by using the power they have. LIFELOCK will also let you know if any sex offenders are in your neighborhood or move into you neighborhood. If you don't have LIFELOCK best you become a member NOW. The fee (not much) is worth the protection they can provide. Their account services use a secure portal so your information can't be read by others. Be sure to enter ALL accounts you have with your bank and credit card numbers. I'm a huge fan of Lifelock. I've heard alot about it and when I purchased a home with all the added accounts that had to be set up I knew I needed more security for my identity and my assets. Lifelock takes care of it all - and its so easy to navigate the site, customer service is incredible. I felt like I was the ONLY person they had to talk to the day I called.
