Prior to becoming a LifeLock member. I had an identity theft incident that could have been easily handled by LifeLock. I had submitted a job application to a company. Shortly there after, I received a job offer from another company. All was well and good until I was in the hospital with cancer. I received a letter from a collection agency. They stated I owed money to American Express. I contacted American Express. They said they couldn't answer any of my questions because all the information had been forwarded to the collection agency. I called the agency and was told they reported to American Express that it was a case of identity theft. I contacted American Express and they said I owed them the money because I had made several payments on the account. I asked how the payments were made and I asked for a copy of my application for their credit card. They refused to comply. I asked what was purchased and where was it delivered. It was one of the companies where I had submitted an application. Six hand held radios, chargers and extra batteries were ordered. T he signature on the receipt could not be read. I asked American Express if they would notify the local law enforcement agency that a crime had been committed. The serial numbers were available for all of the equipment. Law enforcement could have searched the office and recovered the equipment. Instead, American Express had a second collection agency contact me. As a result, my credit history is still affected by this one incident that happened in 1997. It wasn't until years later I became aware of LifeLock. I have had myself, as well as my two now teenage son's signed up for years, and in addition to us my son and daughter both in the Navy, as well as my mother. I have had LifeLock for several years with upgrading to Ultimate Plus within the past year. They have thwarted attempts at my personal information twice in the past month. Lifelock is a great service to have and I feel more secure just knowing I have it. The best thing is that they watch for any of your info being used to open any new accounts, loan accounts, bank accounts , etc. The only thing that I'm kind of disappointed in is that they don't have the ability to monitor more transactions with credit cards, debit cards , etc. I have made several transactions over my chosen maximum amount to be notified, but was not notified. But I understand they do tell you up front that they cannot monitor all transactions everywhere, so I don't hold that against them. I can always look for transactions that are not me on my statements and dispute them. The thing most important is that nobody can uoose your info to steal your I.D. and open anything......this being said , I still recommend Lifelock to everyone. Read More Read Less
